There will be carnival excitement on April Fool’s Day at DVC’s Pleasant Hill and San Ramon campuses when the Inter Club Council holds its annual fundraising event, taking place on both campuses for the first time since its inception.
The ICC Carnival is a way to bring the student body together, raise awareness about the 60 official campus clubs, and help those same clubs earn money for future events and activities, said ICC President Francisco Hinojosa.
All campus clubs have been invited to participate, with prizes going to the top three money-makers of the day.
“There is a competition between their clubs [San Ramon Campus] and our clubs to see who can raise the most money,” Hinojosa said.
Clubs will have games set up at their booths, with prizes ranging from iPods to martial arts lessons, he said.
At the main campus, the event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. between the Student Union and the cafeteria
The event will offer food, shopping opportunities and a variety of entertainment, including a band and singers from the Indonesian Club, performances by the Black Student Union, two martial arts demonstrations, and much more.
Also, participating clubs will serve free food in the Student Union conference room, to those with $8 ASDVC stickers.
The exotic tastes here will include cuisine from Indonesia, Greece, Germany, Japan, China, the Middle East, Italy and Mexico.
DVC student, faculty and staff are invited to table or participate in the event. To get involved, contact Linda Wolf or Hinojosa at [email protected]
