Micaela Groman may be the youngest actor in “Urinetown,” but she already has 17 plays under her belt.
The 15-year-old Diablo Valley School student plays the role of Billy Boy Sue, a poor character who is quite shy.
Groman said she loves acting because she gets to be someone else through her roles. Her favorite so far is that of a mother in a production of “Romeo and Juliet.”
“Acting is my life,” said Groman, who walked across her first stage at the age of 5. “I couldn’t live with-out acting or singing.”
She said her passion for acting and singing comes from loving attention and working with others.
“Theater people are normally very nice,” said Groman, who gets along well with the other cast members in “Urinetown.”
Despite the age difference, she said, “Everyone loves each other.”
In her free time, Groman directs plays, acts as a stage manager for shows, plays soccer and hangs out with friends.
“Go crazy go nuts” is the quote Groman said she lives by. It’s all about doing what you want and not what other people want.
“Just be yourself,” she said.
