The time to apply for DVC scholarships has begun.
Awards range from $300 to $4,000, and a student may receive more than one scholarship.
Last year, transfer student Jose Sandoval won five scholarships for a total of $6,000, said
DVC scholarship coordinator Leslie Mills.
Scholarships are available to new, continuing, and transferring DVC students who must be enrolled in at least six units in spring 2010, have a GPA of at least 2.5 and two letters of recommendation.
Application forms can be downloaded at www.dvc.edu. The deadline is Feb. 2.
Other than the minimum requirements, Mills said criteria for scholarships vary with the donor.
“For example, one donor could be involved in culinary, and therefore a student would have to be involved in culinary,” she said.
Financial need is also one of the criteria set forth by donors.
For help with your application, go to the scholarship office located next to the Career Center in the Student Services building adjacent to the main quad.
The office also has information on other scholarship opportunities.
