September 29 – Classes were cancelled on the Pleasant Hill campus this evening because of a power outage caused by an electrical surge, said Buildings and Grounds manager Guy Grace.
According to Grace, the surge was caused by a problem with PG&E and could have been started by a variety of outside influences, one of which being the hot weather.
Because the campus was without power from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Grace said, the administration decided to evacuate the campus for the evening. However, power has been restored to the campus.
As of now, an unresolved issue from the power surge is the state of the elevators on campus, which Grace hopes to have fixed tomorrow, Sept. 30.
According to the Contra Costa Community District web site, classes are expected to resume to a normal schedule tomorrow.
