The Diablo Valley College women’s basketball team beat the Reedley Tigers 74-64 and moved on to the third round of the state playoffs.

Guard Sabrea Coleman was the top scorer with 19 points, but women’s head coach Ramaundo Vaughn wasn’t satisfied with the win.

Vaughn said, “We won, but we didn’t play. We’re going to have to play better if we expect to win next game.”

The men’s team was knocked out, losing to the Cañada Colts 79-75.

Throughout the game there was no clear winner; it was a fight of back and forth scoring. Half-time came and the score was very close, but Cañada took the lead in the last minutes of the final quarter.

It was a disappointing loss for the men and head coach for the men, Steve Coccimiglio, said “Their team thrives on turnovers and we didn’t take care of the ball.”

Top scorer for the game Joe McNiff said “We didn’t play together, and we paid for it.”

The next playoff game for the women’s team will be at home against the Siskiyou Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4.
