The Diablo Valley College men’s tennis team hosted the California Community College Athletic Association’s Regional Quarters at home against Chabot College on April 9.

They started off the match by winning two doubles matches.

There was a strong performance from Roy Eldred and Sean Miller who goes by his middle name Austin, as they both won their singles matches on courts one and two.

Eldred said about his second set win,”I had to relax and dig out of being down 3-0 in the second set.”

In the single matches, they won the first two matches in two straight sets, but ended up losing the last two which became deciding factors in the match.

The deciding match on court three was a nail-biter that went into the third and final set.  The match went back and fourth as the Gladiators and Vikings were trading off points.

The Vikings ended up losing the match against Chabot by one point, 5-4.

“I didn’t play that well in my doubles, but I am a better singles player.” Miller said after he won his singles match, “My serve was pretty good throughout the whole day.”

The Vikings roster is filled with mostly freshman, and they can see themselves being a more dominate team next year. They are ready to go further in playoffs next year.
