Vikings win big against Mustangs

The Diablo Valley College Vikings went head to head with The San Joaquin Delta Mustangs and came up big in their 42-21 victory.
This was DVC’s “most complete game,” coach Mike Darr said.
383 passing yards, 233 rushing yards, one interception, four sacks and six touchdowns helped make this victory possible.
Running back Miles Harrision who scored twice tonight said, “I feel good, I’ve been preparing all night and I was running hard”
The game started with the Vikings getting the ball on their 25 yard line.
DVC had a chance to score in the first quarter, but missed a field goal from the 26 yard line. The quarter ended with a 29 yard pass completion to Miles Harrision to the SJD one yard line with a 0-0 score.
Miles Harrision rushed for one yard to score DVC’s first touchdown of the game on the first play of the second quarter giving the Vikings a 7-0 lead.
The Mustangs scored immediately after tying the game at 7-7 with 13:32 left in the second.
A pass completion to Marquese Surrell for 10 yards lead to DVC’s second touchdown giving them a 14-7 lead with 6:54 left in the first half.
The Vikings next possession resulted in a two yard touchdown pass completion to Anatol Sklyar.
DVC lead 21-7 going into halftime.
The Vikings started the second half strong scoring in their first drive of the third quarter with a 22 yard pass to Ryan Anderson giving DVC a 28-7 lead.
With nearly five minutes left in the third quarter, a fumble on the DVC 38 yard line gave SJD a chance to score.
The next play lead to Marcus De La Pena intercepting the ball.
Dvc scored five plays later with a 45 yard pass to Miles Harrision that extended their lead to 35-7.
The Vikings final touchdown play was Desmond Nisby’s 12 yard rush with 6:20 left in the fourth quarter.
The Mustangs scored on their next two drives.
42-21 was the final score.
“I feel really good, we need a big win going into the next game against SF,” Quarterback Jadon Brisendine said, “We got to finish.”
The Vikings, now 4-1, have a bye this week then will be back home for their first conference game of the season against City College of San Francisco.
“We want to win our conference,” coach Darr said.
Winning the conference and going to state championship is a mutual goal amongst the team.
“We want to win the conference, compete, go into playoffs and work our way up to state,” said Jadon Brisendine.
The 5 remaining games are against teams in their conference.
The next home game will be Friday, Oct. 14 at 7:00 pm.
