DVC sports this week

The season has concluded for many of Diablo Valley College’s fall sports, while others are near it’s end and some heading to the playoffs or are just getting warmed up.

DVC women’s soccer team wrapped up their regular season with a 3-0 victory at home against American River College on Nov.8. They broke some records and ended the season with a much needed win to set the tone before they head to the playoffs next week. Their first playoff game will be on Nov. 19 at home.

The women’s basketball team won all three of the matches they played this week. They defeated Porterville 82-40 on Nov.10, Fresno 72-58 on Nov. 11 and Cypress 66-65 on Nov.12 in the Merced College Tournament. They are off to great a start with a 5-1 record. Their next match is vs. Yuba in the Contra Costa Tournament on Dec. 1.

Vikings lacrosse beat San Jose State University 18-9 on Nov. 10 and St. Mary’s College 11-5 in the American Cancer Society fundraiser on Nov. 12. They are now on a four game winning streak. Their next game is on Nov. 17 at Stanford.

DVC women’s volleyball team lost their final home game of the season 3-2 against San Joaquin Delta on Nov. 11. That was the team’s fifth straight loss. Their final game of the season will be at Folsom Lake on Nov. 16.

Vikings football lost their final game of the regular season 33-17 to College of San Mateo on Nov. 12. They finished with a 5-5 overall record and only won one of their five conference games.

The men’s water polo team lost two of their three matches this week. They beat Santa Rosa 14-5 in theNorCal Regional Tournament on Nov. 11. They lost their final two games, 17-15 vs. San Joaquin Delta in the NorCal Regional Tournament – Semi-Final and 15-11 vs. Sierra in the NorCal Regional Tournament – Third Place Match on Nov. 12.
